Michael Fierman

Managing Partner and Co-CEO

Michael is a Managing Partner and Co-CEO of Angel Oak Companies. He is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to Angel Oak’s mortgage lending and asset management businesses.

Prior to Angel Oak, Michael was a Co-Founder at SouthStar Funding, a national wholesale mortgage lender specializing in non-agency mortgage products which funded as much as $6.5 billion annually in non-agency mortgages. Michael’s direct responsibilities included oversight of the sales, operations and credit risk departments.

Michael holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Georgia.

Sreeni Prabhu

Managing Partner and Co-CEO
Chief Investment Officer

Sreeni is a co-founder, Managing Partner and Group Chief Investment Officer at Angel Oak Capital and is responsible for the overall investment strategy of the firm. He is also the Chief Executive Officer and President at Angel Oak Mortgage REIT, Inc. (NYSE: AOMR).

Prior to Angel Oak, Sreeni was the Chief Investment Officer of the investment portfolio at Washington Mutual Bank in Seattle and managed a $25 billion portfolio. He was also part of the macro asset strategy team at the bank. Sreeni worked for six years at SunTrust Bank in Atlanta, where he was responsible for investment strategies and served as Head Portfolio Manager for the $3 billion commercial mortgage backed securities portfolio. He began his career at SunTrust in 1998 as a Bank Analyst focused on asset/liability management and liquidity strategies.

Sreeni holds a B.B.A. degree in Economics from Georgia College and State University and an M.B.A. in Finance from Georgia State University.

Tim Saunders

Group Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel

Tim is the Group Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel for Angel Oak Companies. In this role he is responsible for managing the firm’s legal affairs and regulatory compliance measures, as well as overseeing both Angel Oak Capital and Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions’ legal, risk, compliance and regulatory teams. He is also a member of the Angel Oak Enterprise Risk Management Committee.

Tim has over 30 years of legal experience with a broad practice across corporate, finance, banking, lending, capital markets, sales and trading, M&A, and private equity and credit, serving complex and sophisticated financial institutions. Before joining Angel Oak in 2023, Tim spent more than 20 years at Goldman Sachs, where he served as Managing Director and Associate General Counsel. In these roles, he oversaw legal and regulatory activity for the mortgages, commercial real estate, fintech, structured finance and consumer finance business units. Most recently, Tim served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Reverence Capital Partners.

Tim holds a B.A. in Political Science from Middlebury College, cum laude, and a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.

Manmohan Singh

Group Chief Financial Officer and Head of Corporate Development

Manmohan “Manu” Singh is the Group Chief Financial Officer and Head of Corporate Development for Angel Oak Companies. In this role he oversees all aspects of accounting, treasury, and financial operations for all of Angel Oak’s subsidiaries. He is also a member of the Angel Oak Enterprise Risk Management Committee. Additionally, he is responsible for identifying, creating, and executing on strategic corporate investment opportunities across all of Angel Oak’s verticals.

Manu has over 16 years of investment banking and strategic advisory experience covering financial services companies. Before joining Angel Oak in 2021, Manu acted as an independent advisor offering strategic advisory services to a variety of financial services companies, including Angel Oak Capital Advisors. Previously, he was a Director in the Insurance Investment Banking team at New York-based Sandler O’Neill & Partners. During his 12 years with Sandler O’Neill, Manu worked extensively with insurance companies, advising them on capital raising and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) related matters. Manu has been involved with several key M&A transactions, particularly those involving entry of private equity buyers and alternative asset managers into the life and annuity sector.

Manu holds an M.B.A. from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, an M.S. in Finance from the Department of Financial Studies at the University of Delhi, and a B.E. from DCR University of Science and Technology in India.

Adam Langley

Chief Operating Officer

Adam is the Chief Operating Officer at Angel Oak Capital and is responsible for overseeing the firm’s operations and risk management programs.

Adam has nearly 20 years of experience in regulatory compliance of registered investment advisors, broker/dealers, mutual funds, money market funds, private placements, hedge funds, and commodity pools. Prior to joining Angel Oak as Chief Compliance Officer in 2015, Adam was with Invesco where he supervised a team of compliance officers responsible for trade monitoring and forensic testing of the firm’s mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, and separately managed accounts. He began his career with Aspen Partners, Ltd. where he was responsible for all regulatory and compliance matters and led the formation of the firm’s broker/dealer and the launch of several fund offerings, including a registered mutual fund.

Adam holds a B.B.A. degree in Management from the University of West Georgia and holds the Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional (CRCP) designation granted by the FINRA Institute at Georgetown.

Namit Sinha

Chief Investment Officer

Namit is a Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer at Angel Oak Capital. He has extensive mortgage-credit expertise and focuses on managing non-qualified mortgage and commercial investment strategies. He also focuses on opportunities in other areas such as prime jumbo mortgages, reperforming loan strategies and mortgage servicing rights.

He has over 15 years of experience in fixed income products including structured credit. Prior to Angel Oak, Namit spent four years as Senior Vice President at Canyon Capital and established the residential loan trading business in addition to covering its structured products operations. Prior to joining Canyon, Namit worked at Nomura as Executive Director of Mortgage Trading and was involved in the acquisition and financing of non-performing loans, reperforming loans, non-qualified mortgages and Prime Jumbo loans. Prior to that, Namit worked at both Lehman Brothers and Barclays as a non-agency whole loan trader.

Namit holds an M.S. from Rutgers University and a B. Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in Mumbai, India.

Clayton Triick, CFA®

Head of Portfolio Management, Public Strategies

Clayton serves as the Head of Portfolio Management of Public Strategies at Angel Oak Capital Advisors. In this role, he leads the investment approach and asset allocation strategy across the firm’s public mutual funds and exchange-traded funds. He also leads the investment committee and is a listed portfolio manager on the Multi-Strategy Income Fund, High Yield Opportunities ETF, Income ETF, Mortgage-Backed Securities ETF, Strategic Credit Fund, UltraShort Income ETF, and the UltraShort Income Fund.

Clayton emphasizes taking a full market cycle, team-based approach, to fixed income investing. Clayton has deep experience across all aspects of investing in structured credit including credit analysis, trading, and risk management. He is a respected voice in the investment management industry, regularly contributing insights to national media outlets such as the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, and Barron’s.

Prior to joining Angel Oak in 2011, he worked for YieldQuest Advisors, where he was a member of the investment committee focusing on the interest rate risk, currency risk, and commodity exposures of the portfolios alongside directly managing the closed-end fund allocations within the portfolios and individual accounts.

Clayton holds a B.B.A. degree in Finance from the Farmer School of Business at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation.

Manish Valecha, CFA

Head of Client Solutions

Manish is Head of Client Solutions at Angel Oak Capital and is leading its efforts in the institutional investor marketplace with pensions, consultants, endowments, foundations and family offices. He primarily focuses on marketing, product development and institutional due diligence.

Prior to joining Angel Oak, Manish was the Head of Research at Gapstow Capital Partners, a $1 billion credit-focused investment manager investing in hedge funds, private equity funds, collateralized loan obligations and community banks. He was responsible for managing investment strategy, research and due diligence. Prior to joining Gapstow, Manish was a Vice President at BlackRock, where he was responsible for manager research across hedge funds, fund of hedge funds and traditional long-only products. Previously, he worked at Barclays Global Investors, Ziff Brothers Investments and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.

Manish holds a B.S. degree in Finance from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation.

Adam Beeler

Head of Institutional Sales

Adam is responsible for growing Angel Oak Capital’s assets under management and new business development focused on the Institutional allocator markets. Adam has over 24 years of institutional capital markets experience.

Prior to joining the firm, he served as the Business Development Director for an Atlanta-based boutique investment firm and was responsible for identifying collateralized real estate assets for acquisition and for finding investors to acquire the assets purchased. Adam was also the founder and CEO of Bank Capital Management, LLC, a community bank-centric private equity firm focused on investing in banks as well as sale leaseback vehicles for community banks. Adam also served as Vice President at J.P. Morgan in the Global Execution Services division, where his duties included managing client relationships with J.P. Morgan’s largest accounts and new global sales.

Adam holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from Eckerd College and a degree from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.

Steven Schwalb

Managing Partner
Angel Oak Lending

Steven Schwalb is the Managing Partner of Angel Oak’s lending entities. His responsibilities include the development of Angel Oak’s lending and servicing strategic plan, oversight of the origination and servicing platforms, and executing growth opportunities in agency approvals, servicing and securitization.

Steven co-founded Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions, a residential non-Agency wholesale and correspondent mortgage lender, and Angel Oak Home Loans, a residential Agency and non-Agency retail and correspondent lender. Under his leadership, Angel Oak Lending has broadened its product mix and now originates over $6 billion of loans annually.

Steven has more than 25 years of experience in residential lending. Prior to joining Angel Oak, he was the Senior Vice President of Capital Markets at SouthStar Funding, a national wholesale mortgage lender specializing in non-agency mortgage products. His primary responsibilities included product development, risk management, operations and investor relations.

Steven holds both a B.S. degree in Finance and an M.B.A. from Louisiana State University.

Ashlei McAleer

Chief Operating Officer
Angel Oak Lending

Ashlei currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for Angel Oak Lending.

Ashlei is responsible for leading all facets of operational lending shared services in the Angel Oak Lending group. This includes the oversight and development of loan sales and whole loan trading, post-closing, warehouse operations and treasury support, quality control and counterparty relationship management.

Prior to serving in this capacity, Ashlei was the Chief of Staff for Angel Oak Lending. Ashlei has nearly two decades of extensive experience in establishing full service operational platforms to support multiple lending channels, specializing in retail, wholesale, and direct-to-consumer platforms. This includes the development and implementation of operational infrastructure to support quality control and compliance initiatives.

Ashlei holds a B.S. degree in Management from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.

Tom Hutchens

EVP, Production
Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions

Tom is Executive Vice President of Production for Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions. He has over 18 years of experience in leading sales for a wholesale and correspondent lending platform with proven success in the expansion of a lending footprint nationwide.

Prior to Angel Oak, Tom was a senior sales leader at SouthStar Funding and was responsible for business and sales development across the country. He later served as the President of Novo AMC where he was instrumental in launching the organization.

Tom holds a B.S. degree in Finance from Florida State University.

Mark Lively

EVP, Credit Risk and Operations
Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions

Mark is Executive Vice President of Credit Risk and Operations for Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions and has over 27 years of experience in residential lending. He has a proven background in development and implementation of underwriting, quality control policies and procedures in non-agency production directly contributing to cutting edge quality control and fraud prevention measures.

Mark was instrumental in the development and growth of SouthStar Funding from inception to the point where it generated over $700 million in closed loan volume per month through multiple operations centers across the United States. He later served as the SVP of Credit Risk and President of Amerisave Mortgage Corporation.

John Hsu

Chief Human Capital Officer

John is the Chief Human Capital Officer at Angel Oak Lending.

John has 32 years of experience in financial services spanning operations, commercial banking, structured credit investment banking and asset management. Thirteen of his 32 years have been at Angel Oak. Most recently, John was Chief Risk Officer, overseeing all risk management functions for the firm. Before that, John was Head of Capital Markets where he led Angel Oak’s entry into the Non-QM asset class by laying the structural foundation for the firm’s private credit strategies and founded the Angel Oak Mortgage Trust securitization shelf. Prior to that, John ran operations, compliance and risk as COO. In that role, he created the legal, operational, and compliance aspects of the Angel Oak Multi-Strategy Income Fund.

Before joining Angel Oak, John was a Senior Vice President in Ocwen Financial Corporation’s Alternative Investment Group, where he developed partnerships that invested in NPLs and created investments in MSRs and Servicer Advances. John also worked for SunTrust, MBIA and J.P. Morgan, where he focused on the creation and marketing of structured credit products, mainly focusing on Collateral Loan Obligations.

John holds B.S. and B.A. degrees in Industrial Engineering and Economics from Rutgers University and an M.B.A. from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management.
